I've stayed at Fitger's Inn before and even organized a regional union meeting at Fitger's. Everyone loves Fitger's Inn--historic spot, great location, amazing shopping, access to lake walk, you name it!
During our most recent stay, however, we lost a lot of sleep after midnight to noise in the hallway and then in the room next to us (I'll spare the details, but, suffice to say, I never wanted to know my neighbors THAT well). In previous stays, I never noticed that the walls were so thin at Fitger's. We stayed in a lake-side, 3rd-floor room. Maybe the city-side rooms or other floors have better sound insulation?
Anyhow, the noise was probably a one-off incident and no discredit to the hotel staff, but I think we'll choose another hotel next time--there are currently a lot of great options in Duluth at better prices. Regrets.
