We had a lovely stay here. Room was very spacious. Bed was comfortable and bedding was fresh and clean. Bathroom was nice and clean and shower was hot. A/C worked well. Wi-Fi was good. Breakfast was nice and plentiful although it would have been ice to have some juice. The only think I would say is that it was overpriced for what you get

a clean, comfortable property consisting of 4 rooms with attached bathrooms friendly and caring staff access to excellent SriLankan cuisine sourced from local families close to the famous Nallur temple and within couple of kilo meters to jaffna town

Turned back after seeing the place. The food is not prepared in the house, it is sourced from outside hence guests have no insight into its hygiene. The house has no ambiance of a hotel and the access gets waterlogged after rain.

This is a 4 bedroom hotel in old house and provides lovely setting. The manager and staff are really helpful without being annoying. There is a small pool and garden area at front and back. I only had one night there but wish I was able to stay longer. I had overnight train from Colombo and arrived to torrential rain and they proactively called me to check if needed to check in early. Fortunately the room was available. I also had the Jaffa breakfast which was good. The photos are accurate. Would definitely go back and would be great place for group stay.

Thanks Illam was such a tranquil place to stay. Slightly away from Jaffna town but an easy walk or tuk tuk drive. The traditional house is beautifully restful and nicely furnished. The bedrooms simple but more than adequate. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the delicious breakfast and hope to return.

Great old villa with a history. Peaceful and quiet, with nice little pool to enjoy after hot day. Great selection of food that can be ordered and nicely served by the staff. The staff are attentive and provides a good personalized service. If you are looking for a place to relax with privacy in mind, this is the place.

Thambu Illam is the best place to stay when you are in Jaffna, It has easy access to most of the vital places in Jaffna. The bungalow was super clean and cozy. Madu and Sudha were amazing hosts and made our stay a memorable one. Loved the vibe in the cozy house. Also, the yummy breakfast we got, local dishes, and Jaffna curries were super delicious. We will definitely visit this place again.

Very good, comfortable stay in beautifully renovated traditional style house. The hotel is small with just a few rooms and has a very personal feel to it. The bathroom is a little small but it's not an issue for short stays. The wooden bed and furnishings give the place an old-world charm. Location is excellent.
