Grand Amazon Expedition

It's all been said, but I want to add to the great reviews. The staff and crew are warm, helpful, knowledgeable and take safety very seriously. I cannot say enough about how great they are. They truly care about each and every passenger having a good experience. The food is good, but got a bit repetitive on the 7 day cruise. Was pleasantly surprised to find very good internet 95% of the trip; whatever system they have put in place works very well. It was an eye-opener to learn about the people who live on the river (also very welcoming) and of course the flora and fauna. It's a great way to see a part of the world that would be challenging to access otherwise. Hughly recommended.

Amazing and unforgetable experience. We diz the 7 days trip. The crew was fantastic. Piro guided us on the boat trips.He is amazing. I learned só much with him about Amazônia..Samir is an excellent guide as well ,Edgar was our fantastic waiter. Paulo always with fantastic drinks. The food is amazing. The bedroom was top. I congratulate all the staff. I Will never forget this amazing holidays

Great safe easy way to see the Amazon but don’t expect to see much wildlife Staff are excellent but do not speak in the main English Definitely recommend

We picked this ship to experience the Amazon and we were so glad we did. The ship looks to be the biggest working out of Manaus but it’s small compared to ocean going cruise ships.We did the all-inclusive 3 day cruise picking the ship up in Manaus. Our cabin was equal to any that we have had in our previous 14 or so ocean cruises and felt quite roomy. The restaurant is fully buffet style with excellent choices and the bar on the upper deck is great. As all the drinks are included, the bar staff were excellent , particularly Winston who was English speaking. My only gripe was that the white wine served with the meals and the bar -and my wife also thought that of the red- were not good for our tastes. The dry sparkling wine made up for it though! The activities were great with multiple small boats rides and visits to local villages but they were hampered by low Amazon water levels. My tip would be to go with the high water levels and you will experience more but it was fantastic and a great experience of the Amazon.

The Iberostar Grand Amazon is a resort in the form of a river cruise ship. It has two swimming pools, a bar on the upper deck and in the theater, balcony cabins which include hotel type walk-in showers, a small gym, front desk, library and a large dining room where the cruise staff serve a variety of traditional meals in a very elegant buffet format. They also have 8 - 20 person speed boats to transport passengers to jungle hikes, visits to local farms, tribal villages and other attractions. It’s totally all-inclusive, just as their land resorts are. The guides are very competent and speak English and other languages. All -in-all it was a great experience visiting the heart of the Amazon.

When we booked we didn’t really know what to expect but our trip on the 4 day Amazon cruise was one of the best experiences of our lives! The boat departs from Manaus. We got on and our bags were whisked away to our room. After an introduction to the boat we went to see our room. It was lovely! The balcony had 2 chairs, it was all clean and there was plenty storage. We had some super nights sleep whilst on board! Pretty much everything is included. They have a bar on the top outside desk where you will also get pretty good free wifi (not available elsewhere on the boat). There’s also a bar in the entertainment road. The cocktails are really excellent! They have some good wine. All included. Each day is jammed packed! I would do as much of it as you can. You are taken into the rainforest on little boats. They are separated into English speaking and (mainly) Portuguese speaking. The guides were amazing. Jefferson was excellent. He is so knowledgable. We did the jungle walk which wasn’t that challenging - just wear the right clothing (long sleeves, trouser legs and a sun hat). Truly amazing. The sunrise tour was nice. The night tour was a highlight! Piranha fishing was fun! Seeing the pink dolphins was epic! The food was really great. It was a buffet but they had really nice food and local fish every night. The waiters worked really hard to fill up our glasses and make sure we were happy! You are also given a water bottle and have water stations throughout the boat. There’s a gift shop on board. They do laundry. They had a show on several evenings which was a good laugh. On the top deck they have a little pool and hot top. We were gutted we didn’t do a full week. It was amazing. We will be back!!!

Nice boat and all inclusive including drinks as well as excursions. All well-organized. Staff was also very friendly.

This was a most enjoyable introduction to the Amazon Rainforest. The rooms were comfortable, clean and well maintained. The food was awesomely tasty. The drinks were novel (eg caipiranha), good quality, plentiful and potent. The sightseeing tours were well organized twice a day. The guides were very knowledgeable. We were able to see various Amazon forest inhabitants as expected. Would recommend strongly to young and old.

This proved to be a most amazing adventure cruising up the Rio ***** from point where Solimoes River joins to form the mighty Amazon! The ship was well appointed with spacious rooms, fabulous food (all inclusive) and a friendly staff. But the highlight were the included excursions; rain forest hike with a polymath naturalist….parana fishing……night animal spotting……bird watching…..indigenous village visit….historical visits. This was interspersed with multimedia lectures by a talented multilingual guide and a cultural dance show. Incredible value for the money: you could take your kids to DisneyWorld for a fake jungle ride or spend half the money to come here for the real thing. No brainer.
